Philosophies of a Minimalist

I am by no means a complete minimalist. I have collections of books and DVDs that I'm still trying to part with one by one, and that "one-click online ordering" hits a nerve of mine, but I'm doing a lot better.

Here are 11 things I've learned from minimalism:

1) Love people, not things.

2) Get rid of things you find no use for.

3) Don't let material things anchor you in life — unable to let you move forward.

4) If you only keep an object because you "might" need it in the future, throw it out.

5) Live deliberately.

6) Your junk drawer is truly a junk drawer.

7) Wear things you can wear multiple ways — you'll get more use out of them.

8) Happiness is not measured by the things you own.

9) Consumption for the sake of consumption will not enhance your living and purpose.

10) Connect with people, not Wifi.

11) Less really is more.

If you need a healthy change in your life, I highly suggest watching The Minimalism documentary on Netflix, or buying (or renting — if you want to embrace the true power of minimalism) the book 'Everything That Remains' by the Minimalists. Mark my words, it will change your life, and if it doesn't, then you're not willing to change.
